FEPE is committed to certain rules and measures intended to keep the industry in a healthy condition. FEPE invites every envelope manufacturer to join this initiative. The following rules are not meant as a standard but as a goal we are all striving towards to reach them. The ethical rules we share and commit ourselves to are divided into four segments:
A. Environment
• We use paper coming from sustainable resources and support the FSC label, PEFC label or equal labels for forestry management
• We support the introduction of an European quality label which respects on the one side environmental performance criteria and on the other side respects fit-for-use criteria
B. Working conditions
• We ban products and raw materials made with child labour
• We commit for a continuing improvement of working safety
• We pay women and men identical salaries for identical function
C. Financial operation
• We live up to a reasonable and positive EBIT (earning before interests and taxes) and EBITDA (earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortisation)
• Business valuation standard: Whenever possible debts should not be higher than equities (“debt/equity ratio” <1)
• We participate in the FEPE quarterly delivery statistic
D. Market behaviour
• We fight corruption and are not willing to pay bribes to any customer
• We enforce and live up to the FEPE standards for Reversed Internet Auctions
